This is the largest painting by the artist to have ever been to auction. Backus had a studio in the cove in Jamaica, near where the view of this painting depicts. Comes with authentication by the Backus museum. This painting was also featured on the front page of the Fort Pierce Tribune on September 24, 1995. The story featured the consignor’s – Dr. Richard Allen and wife, Barbara – and how they acquired the painting after traveling to Priestman’s River Bay Jamaica
