Oswald Achenbach (Germany, 1827 – 1905) “Pyramids”

He was born in Dusseldorf and visited the elementary class of the Dusseldorf Academy from 1835 on. His older brother Andreas is considered, such as Oswald Achenbach himself, one of the most famous landscape painters of the 19th century. In 1841, Oswald Achenbach left the Academy and went on various study trips, including Bavaria, Tyrol and Italy. Back in Dusseldorf, he joined various painters’ associations and exhibited regularly from 1850. He was already internationally known at this time. From 1852, he received international honors, among others in Amsterdam, Paris, St. Petersburg, Rotterdam and Mexico. In 1863, Aschenbach was appointed professor at the Dusseldorf Academy.
